Message from Mrs Azima Sardiwalla
As our project reaches completion, we must express our heartfelt gratitude to every individual who has made this venture possible and significantly successful.
The Islamic Medical Association of South Africa (IMASA) embarked on this journey at the beginning of April 2020- before government made face masks compulsory. 10 000 masks were a mammoth task for us, inexperienced in this field, and we only knew that it needed to be done but not how we would achieve it.
Initially it proved to be a daunting task; a true learning experience for us all. However, after many design changes, templates and valuable feedback from our experienced seamstresses…we are elated to report that we have surpassed our original target and reached 22 000 masks!
It is only through the will of the Almighty, your tireless efforts and enthusiastic support that this was achieved.
Know in your hearts that you have made a difference to the “Gogo” in the market; law enforcement officer on the ground; workers cleaning town; vulnerable children and thousands of citizens in our beloved country.
