IMASA Johannesburg Branch Student Wing HIV Screening at WITS

On the 21st May 2014, the Muslim Students Association (MSA) of WITS Medical School hosted the Red Cross Association of South Africa for HIV testing and counselling, which was conducted on students and members of faculty who wished to get tested. The event was made possible by the humble efforts of the Islamic Medical Association (Jhb Branch Student Wing) and the Muslim AIDS Programme (MAP Gauteng). The staff of Red Cross worked tirelessly, testing and counselling 93 patients in total, while many eagerly await the next HIV testing day.

The Islam Information Table, which is sponsored and run by a group of students weekly on campus was present as well. The table aims to help students understand Islam and remove misconceptions about Islam, in order to create awareness, tolerance and understanding and develop a sense of admiration for Islam

The IMASA Jhb Branch Student Wing, MAP & MSA hopes to carry this project through and continue serving students on campus, while maintaining Islamic morals Inshaa-allah.
