Alhumdulillah, the IMASA Jhb Branch in collaboration with “Footprints Coaching – Newclare Gauteng” once again hosted a very successful free medical screening programme.
The event was setup in a parking lot surrounded by flats in the Newclare area. Additional activities facilitated by the Footprints Coaching committee members and a team of eager youngsters kept the children occupied with jumping castles & fun games.
Even through the bad conditions of drenching rains, the volunteers REFUSED to call it a day and continued to offer their time and services to the people.
The medical volunteers offered the following screening: Weight, Height & BMI, Blood Pressure Testing, Glucose Testing, Podiatry & Dental Screening. IMASA Mobile clinics were on standby for any cases referred for dispensing of meds. We even had some of medical staff going into the homes of those who were frail and old and unable to join us in the parking lot.
Our sister organization – Muslim AIDS Programme [MAP] screened 45 in total for HIV/AIDS and offered counselling. None tested positive…
Our CPR stand promoted the need for basic CPR training.
A special thank you to all the medical volunteers especially our medical students from the various faculties at WITS & UJ. Eager to learn and thoroughly enjoying the practical part of their intense studies in the medical field. Smiling through bad conditions and remaining positive throughout the event. Going the extra mile to ensure that packing up was done and dusted before they said their good-byes. Jzk to the qualified health professionals who came out to oversee these students as part of our “Mentor Programme”.
May Allah [SWT] reward all those involved with great blessings and the strength and determination to continue giving back to the underprivileged communities.
