Natural splendour for décor complimented the African theme on the 22nd May at the NMJ Hall in Morningside.
IMA Baytul-Nur’s Annual Fundraising Dinner was once again a roaring success with over 400 beautifully clad ladies. On entering the venue, one was greeted by sounds of animals and pretty little Zulu girls. A fun filled programme and Indo-African cuisine complimented the ambience for the evening. With May being “ Africa Month” the theme was most appropriate allowing women to experience “real African” culture.
IMA Baytul-Nur staff & volunteers clad in magni cient African attire welcomed guests. An incredible colourful fashion-show was the highlight of the function. The first 3 winners were delighted with their prizes that included a day at a spa, a 2 night getaway and a R4000.00 beauty hamper.
3 cheers to our caterer Akram & Sameera Bemath who provided a mix of Asian and African style meals. After much coercing our volunteers eventually came up on stage to be applauded by a grateful and very satisfied audience. Comments like “We really look forward to Baytul-Nurs Dinners that allow us to “let our hair down” within privacy of an all-female audience event, were made.”
Some speeches were made to inform the audience of Baytul-Nurs’ activities but the confusing one was when Sr Honey Allee came up on stage with a baby on her back and spoke plain Zulu. The M.C Cassandra Zungu a news reporter on Radio Al-Ansaar then appealed to the audience to learn Zulu.
