IMASA Jhb Branch has formed strong relations with sister organizations over the past few years with Uwais Qarnie Islamic Centre being one of them. Both organizations including Muslim Aids Programme has been hosting an Annual Free Medical Screening for 3 consecutive years, offering basic medical screening of Weight, Height, BMI, Blood Pressure Testing, Glucose Testing, Eye Screening and Dental Screening.
Supported by the assistance of our Mobile Clinic staff, the availability of the mobile clinic for any cases of emergency as well as dispensing of medication.
A total of 215 patients were screened which includes the elderly from one of the old age homes in the area. The community is very appreciative of the services offered and being given an opportunity to ask questions regards their health.
The Muslim Aids Programme tested 45 people in total: 26 being females and 19 being males. Final results revealed that 2 males were tested positive. We found that performing the HIV / AIDS Testing at all screenings is bringing an awareness to the communities and simultaneously eradicating the perception that there is a stigma attached to it especially in the Muslim community.
We thank our volunteers, be it our senior doctors, our medical students and all our general volunteers who selflessly offer their time to be a part of these events and who offer their expertise with only the hopes of gaining the pleasure of Allah [SWT] and giving back to the community. We would also like to thank the Co-ordinators who ensure that these events are conducted and facilitated very professionally and well organized. Alhumdulillah.
